Sandhya Rao has been working in the media for many years, as a print journalist, books editor and children’s books writer. She is one of India’s best children’s book authors and has written about 25 books for children in English, many of which have been translated into other Indian languages. In 2006, she was one of only two children’s authors from India to be invited to the Frankfurt Bookfair. Several of her books have received international acclaim across various forums including the Berlin Literary Festival and the US Board on Books for Young People.
Sandhya has worked in editorial capacities at Indian Express, India Today, Frontline magazine, Tata McGraw-Hill, Tulika Print Communications, and Tulika Publishers. Since 1979, she’s been contributing articles and features to magazines and newspapers, and writes a fortnightly column called ‘Pictures & Words’ for BusinessLine’s online paper for management students, BL on Campus. Currently, she is an editorial consultant with the Hindu BusinessLine in Chennai.
Sandhya has a master’s in English Literature from Madras University (Madras Christian College).
